I know, I know, I've not been blogging enough. Sorry about that, but I've been stupendously busy recently. I'll do better, I promise!

Anyhoo, today comes news of one of the stupidest Facebook comments I have ever seen. Seriously, this is pretty much the dumbest fucking thing anyone could have written, let alone a Democrat State Representative from New Hampshire:

Yes, that's right, "Anime is a prime example of why two nukes just wasn't enough". Apparently, certain Democrat politicians feel that Japanese people should again be subjected to the horrors of nuclear annihilation for creating something that they don't like. Suffice to say, apart from a bit of local coverage, this has gotten very little attention from the media-at-large. I wonder if that would have been the case had Nickolas Levasseur been a Republican?

I never used to like Anime either. I found it annoying and irritating, but I never felt that justified the use of nuclear weapons and besides, my other half successfully managed to convert me quite soon after we met by pointing out that there is more to Anime than Pokemon and porn. In a report about Obama forcing his massively unpopular healthcare power-grab down the throats of the American people, Sky News mentions that 13 State Attorney Generals are to sue the Federal Government on the grounds that the provisions within the Bill to force Americans to buy insurance are unconstitutional. According to Sky News:

"It is likely to fail because the US Constitution says that federal law trumps state laws"

Erm, no it doesn't actually. The Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution clearly states:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

That would be the exact opposite of what Sky News are saying then. Isn't it amazing what a little research can do? Ignorant morons.

Why are Commies so violent?

According to the BBC, there has been a number of arrests in Bolton today as the far-left group Unite Against Facism have protested against a rally by the English Defence League - a far-right group opposed to Sharia Law and Islamic Fundamentalism.

Guess who has been perpetrating most of the violence that led to the arrests? According to the Beeb it's Unite Against Facism. Yes, that's right, yet again the far-left shout about banning hate groups while rioting and attacking the police.

I have a radical idea - how about they don't do that? Seriously, if there is one thing that will help the far-right to gain support from ignorant plebs in this country it is the far-left rioting everytime someone mentions the English Defence League or the BNP.

Alternatively we could use actions as precedent and ban Unite Against Facism as a violent hate group. After all, they call for violent hate groups to be banned, so they themselves should be banned as they are almost always the perpetrators and instigators of violence at these kinds of protest.

...well, sort of. I've borrowed a dongle off a friend of mine from work and it's sort-of working, although it is a little temperamental and sometimes cuts out (especially if I use iTunes - grrrr).

Anyway, I will try to get on here and update it as regularly as I can. It might be a bit sporadic for a bit, as work is extremely busy at the moment and I'm not getting a lot of "me" time at the moment, but I'll try.

On the plus side, I've joined the gym and have lost 10lbs in 8 weeks. Not a massive amount, but it's a start on the road the health and fitness...

Following the bungled terrorist attack over Christmas, the Obamatron administration has said that individuals from 14 "high risk" countries will be subject to extra security screening, over and above that which is applied to all passengers.

I don't have a problem with this, however when the Republicans proposed this under the Bush Administration, Obama and the Democrats all said that it was "racist" profiling. Now, all of a sudden, it's stopped being "racist" and started being "essential for national security."

Obviously only Republicans can be racist, despite history clearly demonstrating otherwise...

Ken Frost from Nanny Knows Best is usually a source of much amusement for me. That said, one of his recent posts had me shaking my head and saying "Why, Ken? Why are you becoming one of those nutcase conspiracy nuts?" Allow me to elaborate by quoting the post in question:

I find it amazing that someone who spends his time highlighting the utter incompetence of Government agencies would suddenly believe that this is more than just simple incompetence, rather it is part of some conspiracy to make Barry O look bad. After all, the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and the TSA, not to mention our own security services, all fucked up here. Of course, none of them have any previous when it comes to fucking up in this way, do they?

Seriously, Ken, this isn't part of a wider plot to discredit President Hopey McChange - he's doing a good enough job of that himself. This is a President who had the lowest approval ratings (45%) at the end of his first year than any other President in modern history. He's even more unpopular than George W Bush for God's sake! The guy has spent his entire Presidency so far playing golf and entertaining Union hacks at the White House. It took him three MONTHS to make a decision on an "urgent" request for a troop surge in Afghanistan, and in 2009 there were more attacks or attempted attacks by terrorists on the United States than at any point since 9/11. With a record like that and a Democrat Congress facing an electoral wipeout in 2010, I don't think the so-called "extreme right" need to do anything to discredit Obama.

A UK-flagged oil tanker has been seized by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden.

Ordinarily this would result in a few choice words about the SAS and/or the Royal Navy being sent in to shoot the pirates, rescue the crew and retake the ship. However, we're dealing with Zanu-Labour and the "hand-wringing" approach to foreign policy. As a result, I expect that there will be some statements amount how we don't tolerate pirates, some choice words about "increasing maritime policing" but otherwise nothing will be done. The shipping company will pay the ransom, the crew and ship will be released and the pirates will use the money to buy more weapons and capture more ships.

It's pathetic that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland can be pushed around by a bunch of fucking pirates from sodding Somalia! Seriously, we have the capability to level their port and shoot all of them, yet they walk all over us.

It's days like this that make me ashamed to be British. How can we claim to be a world power when we won't even stand up to a bunch of fucking pirates?

The family of British man Akmal Shaikh, who was executed in China yesterday for drugs offences, have said they are "shocked" that he was executed.

Apparently the Foreign Secretary summoned the Chinese Ambassador to the Foreign Office to "explain" why the execution took place. I expect the response was something along the lines of "Because our justice system had authorised it and his appeal had failed." What else are they going to say and what exactly do people expect the Foreign Office to do about it? Does anyone really think China gives a flying fuck what this morally and financially bankrupt Government says? Of course they don't. We can stamp our feet and hold our breath as much as we want, but the Chinese Government really don't care. Like I said, China is a communist, totalitarian dictatorship.

Aso Mohammed Ibrahim ran down and killed 12 year old Amy Houston before fleeing the scene of the accident. He was jailed for just four months. A pathetic sentence considering he was already disqualified from driving and he had killed a child. He was also seeking asylum, which was denied following his conviction and he faced deportation after his release. That is until he discovered Human Rights legislation, specifically the section that permits him a "family life" in the UK.

You see, it doesn't matter if you are a disqualified driver who runs over and kills a child and then is due for deportation. You have a right to a "family life" and as such the authorities cannot touch you. Yes, that's right, Ibrahim's deportation has been cancelled because he has the right to a "family life" in the UK.

What about Amy Houston's right to a "family life"? What about her right to life, come to think of it. What about her family's right to justice? Why the fucking hell is the justice system in this country so skewed in favour of the offender and against the victim?

Ibrahim argued that it would be "dangerous" for him to return to Iraq. As far as I'm concerned he should have thought about that before he decided to drive like a twat and kill someone. This ruling is an absolute disgrace and is indicative of the farce that is the justice system in this country.

Bonus Hypocrisy

As previously discussed, the Government has come over all Socialist and is introducing a windfall tax on bank bonuses, and the Tories are jumping on the Commie bandwagon in support of it.

Funnily enough, both sides remain very quiet on the fact that £130 MILLION has been paid out in bonuses to civil servants over the past year.

Just to be clear on what the Government is saying. If a bank uses its own money to pay bonuses to their workers that is bad. However if the Government uses our tax money to pay bonuses to bureaucrats, that is OK.

Some people will argue that the banks were bailed out and so they should pay money back before paying bonuses, but that argument doesn't work because the windfall tax will affect all banks, regardless of whether they took any money from the bailout.

I am sick to death of the Government pissing our money away on crap and then expecting everyone other than themselves to feel the pinch. They slash the defence budget, cut university spending and put in massive new taxes on successful companies, yet they refuse to do anything other than "have a review" into staffing in the Civil Service and then go on to pay them massive bonuses.

One thing I really dislike about this time of year is the fucking perfume adverts that infest the TV. They're usually stupidly obscure and meaningless and leave me trying very hard to not throw something at the TV. Here are a couple of examples:

Adverts like these annoy me intensely. I mean, when in the middle of watching something awesome and manly like Top Gear or The A-Team and all of a sudden some stupid advert for perfume comes on they ruin the atmosphere and generally piss me off. They're almost as bad as the adverts for Loreal anti-wrinkle bollocks that were on in the middle of Commando the other week on ITV.

Universities feel the pinch

Mandy Pandy has announced a cut of £533 million in university funding for next year, as part of the Government's attempts to reduce the massive budget deficit that they themselves created.

As a result, universities that are already feeling the pinch due to the pay demands of greedy lecturer's unions (that absorbed most of the revenue from top-up fees) will now have even less money, and so will have to cut student places and facilities.

In the meantime, the Government has announced that it will "look into" reductions in civil service staff.

That's just dandy, isn't it? They can slash budgets for defence and universities by hundreds of millions of pounds, but they can only "look into" cutting down the over-bloated and ridiculously inefficient civil service.

Apparently the BBC believes that the fact that Rage Against the Machine got to the Christmas Number 1 spot instead of Simon Cowell's latest X-Factor bollocks is a sign of British "bloody-mindedness".

How is this the case? By their own admission, "bloody-mindedness" means to not do as you are told. If that is true, how is the Christmas Number 1 story an example of it?

I don't recall being told that we had to buy Cowell's latest piece of manufactured pop shit, and even if I was I would have told him to fuck off. Seeing as we weren't told we had to buy Cowell's crap, how can we be bloody-minded by trying to stop him getting the Christmas Number 1? Grumpy, yes. Fed up, definitely, but bloody-minded? The "deal" at the Hopenchangen summit, if you can call it that (a bunch of countries agreeing in principle that they need to come up with an agreement at some future date is not a "deal" in my book) has been hailed by many including Gordon Brown as an "important first step" in tackling climate change.

What happened to the summit being the "last chance" to save the human race? We were told that if an agreement wasn't reached at Copenhagen then it would mean death for us all, but now that an agreement hasn't been reached it's all OK and there's plenty of time to come up with something? Give me a break.

Copenhagen had nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with advancing global socialism.

George Osborne, the Tory Shadow Chancellor, has said that he will not oppose the Government's planned Windfall Tax on bank bonuses. That's right, the Tory Shadow Chancellor is siding with the Socialists and thus guaranteeing that I will not vote for them at the next election.That is not my main point, however. My main point is on another story, where Call-Me-Dave Cameron has announced that, if elected, he will "rush through" laws to ensure that all MPs and Peers are UK taxpayers.

You mean to tell me that we have nearly 1,000 parasites sitting in Westminster, growing fat off of expenses funded by us, the hardworking taxpayers, and some of them don't actually pay fucking tax themselves? These disingenious CUNTS have the nerve to introduce Windfall Taxes on people who already pay upwards of 40% of their income in tax while they sit pretty and don't pay tax themselves? These WANKERS will dribble on about "the rich" paying their "fair share" while they manage to avoid doing it themselves?

For fuck's sake, it's enough to make ME not bother voting, and I consider voting to be one of the most important things a person can do!

Parliament is full of gutless, spineless, fat, lazy, corrupt, parasitic cunts. All of them, every single one of them needs to be sacked and replaced. Many of them belong in prison, and if I had my way they'd fucking well go there for a very long time. Why should we, the hardworking men and women of this country, work our fingers to the bone so a bunch of lazy career politicians and their goons in the civil service can sit pretty at our expense? They want to talk about "fairness", well this isn't fair! It's about time the old political elite were swept away and replaced by people who listen to the electorate and won't just spend their days thinking of new ways to swindle the people who pay their wages out of even more money.

As far as I'm concerned, the only people who ever entered the Houses of Parliament with any good intentions were Sir Winston Churchill and Guy Fawkes.

According to the Daily Telegraph, delegates to the Copenhagen Summit will be travelling from across the world on over 140 private jets, will be driven around in over 1200 limousines (only 5 of which are hybrids) and will be staying in luxury hotels at up to £650 per night, all at the taxpayers' expense. The event itself will have a Carbon Footprint equivalent to that of a town the size of Middlesborough, yet the aim of the summit is to tell ordinary, hard-working taxpayers that they need to reduce their carbon emissions, pay higher taxes and enjoy fewer luxuries.

How do you justify the wrank hypocrisy being displayed by every single person attending the Copenhagen summit? Why should we, the hard-working taxpayers, be vilified for flying to take foreign holidays by people who travel around the world on luxury private jets? Why should we be expected to give up our luxuries and reduce our consumption at the behest of a group of champagne coiffing, limo-riding hypocrites? Why should we listen to people like yourself, Ed Miliband, the IPCC, Al Gore and all the other people at Copenhagen when all of you refuse to practice what you preach? Or are the rules just for the little people, with politicians exempt?

The EU wants to regulate our music

The EU has decided that it wants madatory volume limits on all MP3 players and iPods sold in the EU. They want the maximum volume to be limited to 85 dB, because they say too many people are damaging their hearing by listening to loud music.

Erm, forgive me, but surely if people damage their hearing through loud music then IT IS THEIR OWN FUCKING FAULT!!!

For God's sake, stop trying to control everything and stop taking away personal responsibility. What next, people suing Apple because their iPod played music so loudly it made them deaf? Give me strength.

This sort of meddling will require software to be added to players that are sold in the EU, which will make them much more expensive than they are everywhere else in the world (as if VAT didn't do that already). The result? People will just buy MP3 players from overseas, where they are cheaper and do not come with this nannying, interfering piece of software.

What's next? Random spot-checks on the volume of your music? What are the EU going to do if you are found to be listening to music that is higher than the legal maximum, arrest you? They can fucking try!

God I hate the EU. The sooner we are out of it, the better off we will all be.

I wonder if this prediction has come from their famous billion-pound supercomputer, that has the carbon footprint of a small town and has a successful prediction rate of 0%, i.e. it has failed to accurately predict anything. Remember, this is the same computer that promised a 40 degree heatwave in the UK from May all the way through to September. The reality, of course, was a bit of warm weather and sunshine, mixed in with lots and lots of rain.

With that track record behind them, you'll forgive me if I don't run to the hills in panic at this latest news...

Something to think about at Christmas

I don't normally quote articles verbatim, but this one I think deserves it: Lancashire Soldier Escapes Death by Inches in Afghanistan.

A soldier seriously wounded in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan has told how he cheated death by a few inches.
Coldstream Guard Greg Dunnings, 19, was part of a group of soldiers on patrol in Babaji, Helmand Province, when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off, injuring one of his colleagues.

Guardsman Dunnings, from Ribbleton, Preston, was ordered to help lift the stretcher carrying the injured soldier.

He was on the back left hand side of the stretcher when his sergeant, Acting Sgt John Amer, told him to swap sides.

Seconds later, Sgt Amer stood directly on a second IED, causing fatal injuries.

The soldier on the stretcher, who had lost his right foot in the first explosion, lost both his legs.

But, miraculously, despite standing just one foot away, Guardsman Dunnings was blown clear by the blast, as shrapnel ripped through his legs.

He recalled: "Instead of losing any limbs I was just blown backwards. (The medics) said they expected it to rip through me as well.

"I know how lucky I have been."

Guardsman Dunnings, who celebrated his 19th birthday just four days before the November 30 incident, was left with severe injuries to his legs, left hip and wrist. He was airlifted out by helicopter as the Taliban continued to fire at them and taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham on December 1. He underwent skin graft surgery on Tuesday as 30-year-old Sgt Amer's body was flown home to the UK.

Greg is a friend of mine and an ex-Air Cadet from the Squadron where I help out as staff. He was 19 and had been in Afghanistan for just over a month. Greg is a hero, just like every single man and woman who serves or has served in the Armed Forces. Every day these brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect our freedom and to protect the freedom of those who are unable to protect themselves from those who would seek to do them harm. Many of them are injured or killed doing this, including my friend and his comrades.

During the Christmas season, while you are enjoying the holidays, eating your Christmas dinner, exchanging presents and generally having a good time, spare a thought for the men and women who are serving overseas, away from their families and friends. Think about the men who are risking their lives so that you have the freedom to enjoy Christmas, and think about the families of men like Sgt John Amer who will be spending this Christmas with an empty chair at the dinner table.

100 British service personnel have been killed in Afghanistan in 2009 and the total since the war started stands at 237. They aren't casualties - casualties are statistics. They are heroes, all of them. Whenever people rant and protest and call for the troops to be withdrawn, they should stop and think of these 237 people. The list of dead is also a list of 237 reasons why we need to stay and fight. To pull out would hand victory to the enemy, and that would be an insult to the memories of these brave men and women.

Remember them this Christmas, and be thankful that men like Greg are there to keep us safe. Without men like him and his comrades, the world would be a much more dangerous place.

Obligatory Copenhagen Post

The Telegraph published some statistics that showed that the delegates of this conference will fly into Denmark aboard hundreds of private luxury jets, be driven around in over 1200 limos and will be staying in luxury hotels eating caviar and fois gras, whilst attending a climate conference that has the carbon footprint of a town the size of Middlesborough. How is it possible to justify such extravagence? Simple, it isn't.

Copenhagen is just another excuse for our so-called "Leaders" to show off their greed and excess while lecturing the hard working people who've paid for it about how they need to cut down on flying and cut down on their consumption. The science isn't settled, and the Climategate emails can tell you the lengths to which the Watermelons on the Left will take to keep the myth of man-made climate change alive.

Seriously, the world's climate has been in a state of constant change since the planet first formed billions of years ago, but we are expected to believe that although historically climate has changed naturally, all of a sudden it is now solely caused by man? I'm sorry, but that is utter crap.

Man-made climate-change (it conveniently changed from "global warming" when it was revealed that the planet hasn't warmed for over a decade) is nothing more than an excuse for Leftists to push their socialist agenda. Think I'm wrong? Ask yourself why world leaders are praising China over their environmental policies whilst within China itself, thousands of people in rural areas die each year from illnesses as a result of massive industrial pollution. Rivers flow thick with chemical waste, factories turn the sky dark with thick, black smoke, and babies are born deformed due to contamination in the water supply. All of this is happening right now, but none of the Watermelons in the environmental movement care - they're too busy trying to get Western economies to cripple themselves with Carbon Taxes and other punitive measures.

I'm all for energy efficiency and environmental protection, but can we please do it properly without resorting to world socialism?

According to the Daily Telegraph, delegates to the Copenhagen Summit will be travelling from across the world on over 140 private jets, will be driven around in over 1200 limousines (only 5 of which are hybrids) and will be staying in luxury hotels at up to £650 per night, all at the taxpayers' expense. The event itself will have a Carbon Footprint equivalent to that of a town the size of Middlesborough, yet the aim of the summit is to tell ordinary, hard-working taxpayers that they need to reduce their carbon emissions, pay higher taxes and enjoy fewer luxuries.

How do you justify the wrank hypocrisy being displayed by every single person attending the Copenhagen summit? Why should we, the hard-working taxpayers, be vilified for flying to take foreign holidays by people who travel around the world on luxury private jets? Why should we be expected to give up our luxuries and reduce our consumption at the behest of a group of champagne coiffing, limo-riding hypocrites? Why should we listen to people like yourself, Ed Miliband, the IPCC, Al Gore and all the other people at Copenhagen when all of you refuse to practice what you preach? Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, vice-chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has said that the hacking of the Climategate emails was a "sophisticated and well-funded attempt to destroy public confidence in the science of manmade climate change."

What Jean-Pascal van Twat doesn't seem to have gotten into his thick head is that the the emails themselves do a perfectly good job of undermining public confidence. The emails demonstrate the long-term and widespread manipulation of data to produce false conclusions and produce an artificial image of climate change.

Seriously, is he not going to question the content of the emails? Is it OK to manipulate data and falsify results so long as no-one is caught doing it? I think he needs to look at the bigger picture here. He should be focusing less on the hacking of the emails and more on what the emails say about the myth that is man-made climate change. We have emails that reveal a long-term attempt to deceive the public on an important issue, and the IPCC are more concerned about the leak than the contents? Unbelieveable.

He's right on one thing though - Climategate is a lot like Watergate. Let's hope the results are the same and the crooks responsible for the climate change farce are all brought to justice and/or forced out of public office.

Labour have destroyed the UK economy

New figures from the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) show that the UK economy has dropped from being the 4th largest to the 7th largest since 2005, behind the United States, China, Japan, Germany, France and Italy.

If being below France, Germany and Italy wasn't bad enough, the CEBR predicts that the UK will drop out of the top ten economies by 2015, falling behind such economic giants as Russia, India, Brazil and Canada.

What the fuck? India I can understand, but Russia? Brazil? Those two countries are so corrupt that they might as well accept organised crime as their Government! Canada has half the population of the UK, yet will have a larger economy than us. Just brilliant.

Gordon Fucking Brown has attacked climate change sceptics as "flat earthers" for our "dangerous" and "deceitful" attempts to derail the Copenhagen summit. The Environment Secretary, Ed Miliband, has joined him in attacking us, which I find ironic considering he recently admitted using disposable nappies for his six-month-old son - something that is distinctly environmentally unfriendly and something that his own department has rallied against in the past.

Brown says he is "unequivocal" on the science behind climate change. So am I, but unlike that Scottish twat I'm unequivocal on the fact that it is fake. He may be in denial over the CRU emails, but I'm not. They show a clear pattern of manipulating information, falsifying conclusions and then destroying the raw data to make sure no-one can double-check their conclusions. Surely if the situation was that bad, they wouldn't need to do this sort of thing?

Global temperatures are not rising. This is a fact that even the CRU admits in one of the leaked emails, shortly before admitting that they rigged the information to cover this up. There is no link between CO2 emissions and global temperatures, mainly because man-made CO2 accounts for such a pitifully small amount of the atmosphere that it can't possibly make any difference:

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that all the people calling for action on climate change just happen to be the exact same people who have spend decades rallying against capitalism and urging us all to follow the example of the Soviet Union, China and Cuba, and embrace communism. There can't possibly be any hidden agenda there, could there? Why should it be suspicious that the very people who've spent decades saying we should abandon capitalism and consumption in favour of communism are now saying that we need to abandon capitalism and consumption to protect "Mother Earth"?

There is a campaign underway in the UK called "Don't Play Me, Pay Me" which is trying to stop able-bodied actors playing disabled people. In an interview for Sky News, one of the people involved says "They haven't lived with the disability and so are not able to produce an authentic performance." This means that they should not be playing disabled parts.

Erm, that's why it's called acting. By that logic, no actor can appear in a war movie unless they've been a soldier, no actor can portray a slave in a historical drama because they've never been a slave and a straight guy can't play a homosexual because it wouldn't be "authentic". What was Russell Crowe thinking of, playing a Roman Gladiator when he'd never actually been one? And God help the people in Harry Potter, none of whom (as far as I am aware) are witches or wizards.

I'm all for hiring disabled actors to play disabled parts, but ultimately it should be up to the director who he/she casts, otherwise we're going to end up in the ludicrous scenario that I described above.

The death of Global Warming

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has urged world leaders to "seal the deal" on a new agreement to curb CO2 emissions at the upcoming Copenhagen summit.

Meanwhile, in the real world, the so-called "science" behind man-made global warming and climate change is rapidly falling apart.

A collection of over 1100 emails and documents from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia has revealed widespread fraud, with data being massaged, results falsified and a concerted effort being made to destroy information that has been requested under a legally-binding Freedom of Information request as it would show the extent of their deception. The information from the CRU formed the basis of much of the IPCC's reports into so-called Anthropogenic Global Warming. We now know that not only is the world not warming, but the so-called "scientists" who claim that it is are in fact a bunch of liars and charlatans. Not only that, but they are also, potentially, criminals.

Lest anyone think that this is a one-off, a few bad eggs in an otherwise trustworthy bunch, let us now go to New Zealand, where it has recently been revealed that their National Institute of Water and Atmospheric research (NIWA) has also been falsifying information to try and make Global Warming look worse than it is. Here is the graph that NIWA released:

That's a pretty clear demonstration that there has been a steady rise in temperatures in New Zealand over the past 100 years. Obviously this must be tied to the growth of industrialisation. But wait a minute, what does the raw data show?

Oh right, the actual trend in the raw (ie unmassaged) data shows that t emperatures fluctuate but there is no warming trend.

Why would these people falsify information like this? Simple, they want money. Money and power. All of the main perpetrators of this myth have got large financial interests in the world's efforts to curb emissions. Al Gore is a major stakeholder in several carbon offset and trading companies - the very companies that Americans would make a fortune should the United States pass the Cap and Tax emissions law. The CRU and NIWA predict doom and get millions in Government funding to continue their research (money) and then get asked to play a major role in formulating policy (power). Now that the science is falling apart, they can be revealed as the fraudsters that they are and we can start to concentrate on more important matters, like cleaning up real pollution and rebuilding our shattered economy.

I know, I'm not American, so why am I writing a post about Thanksgiving? Well having read through Jay G's post about Giving Thanks, I thought I'd ~~steal~~ - I mean "take some inspiration from" his list of things he is thankful for and do one of my own. With that in mind, here is my list of some of the things for which I am thankful:

My better half - She has stuck by me through thick and thin for over six years. She supported me when I went to Dublin and was there for me when it didn't go as well as I'd hoped. She's put up with a lot from me and for some reason still stays with me (I'm sure she'd say it's for my wallet). If she's reading this, and even if she isn't, I want her and everyone else to know that I love her very much. She is the best thing that ever happened to me, and every day I am thankful that we are together.

My family - Like the other half, my family have all stuck by me when times were bad and been there to cheer with me when things were good. They've pushed me to push myself and I don't think I'd be where I am today if they hadn't.

My friends I - The Sunday Lunch Club are quite possibly the finest bunch of chaps with whom one could have the good fortune to be associated. From helping when I was stuck with my uni work to our now traditional and infamous election night parties (that usually consist of heavy drinking, general boistrousness and shouting obscenities at liberals on the TV), the SLC have always proved to be a bastion of sound Tory ideals in a world apparently suffering from the ever tightening grip of liberalism and communism.

My friends II - All the people in Dublin who kept my spirits up even when I was having a pretty rough time personally, both at work and at home. Unfortunately I don't get to see them as much as I'd like, but they are still very important to me. There are also my friends from school, with whom I shared many of my early drinking experiences (or so I've been told, the memory is a bit hazy) and who stuck by me during one particularly unpleasant experience. Last but not least I should mention Mrs H, who has become a very close friend over the past few months. She is extremely good fun to be around and hysterically funny, as well as being a veritable fountain of good advice.

My work - I make no bones about it, I work for one of the largest defence companies in the world and I'm working on the most advanced combat aircraft in service today. Hippies may protest about it, but I love my job. Every day I wake up and I am happy to go into work and face the challenges of the day because I know that I am doing a worthwhile job that will help the men and women of our Armed Forces and those of our Allies defend us from the enemies of freedom.

The Armed Forces - I've ranted recently about how the Government is betraying our Armed Forces by slashing their budgets and forcing them to make do with half-arsed procurement programmes and sub-standard equipment. That they can make the best of a bad situation and still do their job as well as they do is a credit to everyone man and woman in the Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, and every day I am thankful that they are willing to put their lives on the line to protect me and mine.

I think that's about it. There's probably more, but I don't want to descend into too much sentimentality. Happy Thanksgiving to my Yank readers!

China Lies

China has announced that it will reduce its "carbon intensity", that is the amount of CO2 produced per unit of GDP, by 40% by 2020. The BBC says that "China is showing that it wants to play a leading role in tackling global climate change". Greenpeace says "This is definitely a very positive step China is taking, but we think China can do more than this."

Meanwhile, China continues to pump out pollution faster than any other country on Earth. Toxic chemical waste continues to flow into China's rivers and villages continue to live in disgusting conditions, surrounded by festering piles of industrial waste. Cancer rates in some villages approach 50% and more and more children are being born with severe birth defects, all directly attributable to the amount of industrial pollution in the countryside. Water is taken and cleaned before being pumped straight back into the same contaminated river from which it was taken - the same rivers that millions of poor Chinese use for drinking and sanitation.

Lessons in WHAT?

The Government has announced that from 2011 all children from the age of 5 will have mandatory lessons in school to teach them that domestic violence against women is wrong. Girls will be taught that they deserve respect and boys will be taught that they are all potentially violent abusive partners who need to learn to respect women.

Where the fuck do I start with this one?

How about the fact that the sort of scumbags who beat their wives or partners are not likely to be put off because they are taught in school that it is wrong?

How about the fact that no amount of education is going to stop little Jimmy thinking it is OK if he goes home and sees Daddy beating seven shades of shit out of Mummy?

Or how about the fact that this legislation is one of the most sexist things I've ever seen? The whole focus of it is not on domestic violence, it is on domestic violence perpetrated by men against women. According to the State, there is no such thing as domestic violence perpetrated by women against men.

All domestic violence is wrong, whether it's a man beating his wife or a woman beating her husband, and it should all be handled with equal vigour. The perpetrators should suffer extreme cruelty at the hands of the justice system, regardless of gender. Unfortunately, the State doesn't see it that way. According to them, only violence against women is wrong.

Here's a hypothetical for you. The State is going to teach kids that only women can be victims and only men can be violent and abusive. That is the point of these plans - the Government has said so themselves. So what happens in this scenario:

Democracy

In a Democratic country, the people within are meant to have a say in who gets to lead them and who gets to represent them on the world stage. This is done through Referenda and Elections, where the people make their choice and the person (or persons) with the most votes wins.

With that in mind, can someone please explain to me just how the appointment of the new EU President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs is in any way democratic?

The positions were created by the ~~EU Consitution~~ - sorry - "Lisbon Treaty" - that was signed and ratified by EU Leaders without the consent of the people they represent. In the UK, the majority of people in every poll were shouting for a referendum on the issue, but they were ignored by the Government, who decided they knew better. That is not democracy.

The positions were filled by the leaders of all 27 EU member states getting together and choosing from a list. The 500 million people in Europe did not have any say in the decision. That is not democracy, that is a consensus dictatorship and it's the sort of thing that used to go on in the Soviet Union.

Let's look at the people who have been appointed to these positions. The new EU President is the Prime Minister of Belgium, Herman van Rompuy (no, I've never heard of him either) and the new High Representative for Foreign Affairs is British Baroness Ashton - the current EU Trade Commissioner and another complete unknown.

Say what you like about Rompuy Pumpy, at least he has had to face a public vote. Baroness Ashton has never been elected to office. Ever. She was elevated to the peerage by Tony fucking Blair a few years ago and held several low-key Ministerial positions before landing the job of Trade Commissioner when Mandy Pandy (cunt) was enobled and brought back in the Cabinet by Gordon Brown. Baroness Ashton claims that despite the fact that no-one in her own fucking country has heard of her, let alone anyone outside the UK, and despite the fact that she has precisely zero foreign policy experience, she is the "best person for the job". Really? That must be in the same universe that a baked potato makes a good fighter pilot and office paper is the best material for making suspension bridges.

Actually, come to think of it, she has a point. After all, she is an unelected professional bureaucrat who has never faced a public vote, never had a real job and who has just been appointed to a position for which she is grossly underqualified. Sounds like the perfect qualifications for being a European High Representative.

I want to make one thing clear. Neither of these people represent me and they do not speak for me. I have not had any say in their appointment or even on the implementation of the Treaty that created their jobs, therefore they have no mandate from me or anyone else. This whole thing is a farce, and the sooner the UK leaves the European Union the better.

Following on from my post earlier about the Royal Navy being forced to convert one of the two new aircraft carriers into a helicopter carrier and slash the number of F-35 aircraft from 138 to just 50, the Times also brings details of similar cuts expected from the RAF.

According to the article, the RAF is planning to cut 10,000 personnel from its ranks, leaving it with just 31,000 Officers and Men. This is less than the RAF had during the 1920s and less than half the strength of the RAF during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. They will also cut up to 80 fast jet aircraft from the inventory by 2025, which will include the majority of the Harrier and Tornado fleets, and are expected to announce the closure of up to 5 major RAF stations over the next ten years. RAF Wittering and RAF Cottesmore will be closed when the Harrier is retired. RAF Kinloss is likely to be closed, and all her Nimrods moved to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. The whole point of having the Nimrods at Kinloss is so they are close to the routes taken by Russian submarines to get into the Atlantic. Moving them to Waddington will therefore be a direct threat to our national security. It is also expected that either RAF Lossiemouth or RAF Marham will close. These are two of the largest Tornado bases in the UK, and one is expected to go as a result of the reduction in F-35 orders. All fast-jet training is expected to be done at RAF Valley in Wales, which could lead to the possible closure of RAF Linton-on-Ouse and RAF Leeming, and all the RAF's Merlin helicopters will move to the Royal Navy base at Culdrose, leading to the closure of RAF Benson once the Puma helicopter goes out of service.

In the meantime, it is expected that as a cost saving measure, all of the RAF's Nimrods and Pumas will be grounded until April, and it is expected that four of the RAF's seven Sentry AWACS aircraft will be mothballed. This is a direct threat to our national security, as these aircraft play a key role in the defence of UK airspace and will also prevent us from meeting our search and rescue obligations, as the Kinloss-based Nimrods play a vital role in long-range search and rescue operations in the Atlantic.

I was absolutely stunned when I read this - so much so that I had to read the article twice to make sure I took it in. These are cuts proposed by the RAF themselves, as they believe they are less savage than what is in store for them at the next Strategic Defence Review. These aren't cuts, this is the wholesale massacre of the RAF. If the proposed cuts to the RAF and the Navy go through then we will be a third-rate power, unable to influence anything beyond our borders and unable to perform any kind of independent overseas operation. Worse, our ability to work in coalition with Allies will be severely limited, leaving us able to contribute nothing more than a token force to any operation.

Never before have I been more disgusted and depressed at the state of this country and the mess that has resulted from 12 years of Zanu-Labour. Bastards.

We're in the middle of an increasingly bloody war in Afghanistan where over 90 British service personnel have died this year alone. You'd think that at a time like this the Government would be investing heavily in giving the Armed Forces the best equipment they can. You'd be wrong, as two articles in the Times recently have shown.

The first article from October 25th tells the story of the Navy's cuts and it is a sad tale indeed. The Times suggests that HMS Prince of Wales - one of the two new Aircraft Carriers that the Royal Navy has been fighting to get for over a decade - will be used not as an Aircraft Carrier, but converted for use as a Commando Helicopter Carrier, replacing the Navy's current Helicopter Carrier, HMS Ocean. The reasoning for this is that the F-35B JSF that is due to fly off of the new ships is too expensive (it is estimated that each aircraft will cost in excess of £100 million). By only having one Aircraft Carrier, the order for the jets can be cut from 138 to just 50, saving almost £8 billion, most of which will be swallowed up by converting the second carrier into a Commando Helicopter Carrier. The side effect of this will be that whenever HMS Queen Elizabeth is in dock for refit or repair, we will have no Aircraft Carrier available for overseas operations.

This is total and utter bureaucratic bullshit. This Government pisses money away on useless programmes like ID Cards, and expect the Armed Forces to foot the bill through cuts. Having just one Aircraft Carrier will make us a third-rate power, unable to influence world events or protect our interests overseas (I bet the people of the Falkland Islands are feeling pretty nervous at this news). Worse, buying F-35 is going to be one of the biggest defence blunders this country has ever seen. At £100 million apiece, each F-35 will cost twice as much as a Eurofighter Typhoon. The Typhoon is faster, larger, more versatile and can carry more weapons of more types over much longer ranges than F-35. Typhoon can perform multiple roles in the same mission. F-35 can perform one - strike (hence Joint Strike Fighter). Typhoon can carry up to six missiles and six bombs to targets at long ranges in one mission. If the current reports are to be believed, the STOVL (Short Take Off Vertical Landing) F-35B can carry two bombs and two missiles and has a range of just 450 miles - that is less than the Harriers that it is due to replace.

Cutting the numbers of F-35s down to 50 will save £7.6 billion, so cutting them all could (logically) save more - potentially over £8 billion. For £8 billion you could convert both Aircraft Carriers for conventional operations (ie fit catapults and arrestor cables), Navalise the Typhoon for use on Aircraft Carriers (it would still end up being cheaper than the F-35B, even after the mods have been paid for), buy some Carrier-based support aircraft (ie Airborne Early Warning aircraft such as the E-2 Hawkeye), provide a buddy refuelling system to allow Typhoons to operate as Carrier-based air refuelling tankers, and still have change left over for the silverware in the Wardroom. Not only that, but with the RAF and the Royal Navy flying a common aircraft type, the MoD would save an absolute fortune on support, maintenance, spares and repairs. It would also secure more jobs in the UK, unlike F-35, which apart from the rear end (which is built by BAE Systems in the UK) is built in the United States. Even better, the Government could decide that both ships be dual-roled, so that they can serve either as an Aircraft Carrier or a Helicopter Carrier, depending on the needs of the situation, thus making the ships more versatile and providing even more value for money. Any change left over from the mods I've discussed can be put towards some new helicopters and/or a new dedicated Helicopter Carrier to replace HMS Ocean.

There is no need to sacrifice a ship to save money and there is no need to slash the budget. With a bit of thought the Carrier programme can be turned from a political football into a cost-effective solution that meets the needs of the Navy and the United Kingdom. It just needs some thought, and preferably a kick up the arse of the civil servants and penny-pinching bean counters at the MoD to keep them out of it.

JLS, I discovered today, are some popular music ensemble from one of the many so-called "talent" shows that infest the television schedules these days. According to an advert I saw, they have just released their "long awaited" debut album, yet they already have an autobiography out.

What the fuck? "Our Story So Far"? What the fucking hell is going to be in that? They have done NOTHING! They have achieved NOTHING! Yet, for some reason, they get a fucking autobiography.

I'm sick to death of seeing the biography sections on bookshops infested with "autobiographies" of nobodies. Pop stars, people famous for nothing more than being on a reality TV show, women famous for nothing more than being the glamourous bit of skirt on the arm of a footballer. Some of them have two or even three autobiographies out. Why? What have they done to warrant that? Go into the biography section of Waterstones now and you'd be hard pressed to find more than half a dozen "proper" memoirs of people who are famous for something worthwhile rather than just shagging some footballer or being a second-rate pop star.

Still, what else do you expect from a society obsessed with the shallow, vacuous world of "celebrity"...

Kent Police are appealing for help tracking down a dangerous murderer who "absconded" during an "escorted" shopping trip.

First of all, she can't have been "escorted" that well if she managed to escape.

Secondly, if she was so dangerous, why the fucking hell was she allowed out to go shopping? We're talking about a fucking MURDERER here! What the fuck is wrong with the prison system? Why are they taking dangerous criminals for days out shopping? These people are in prison to be punished, not for a bit of a jolly!

They need to bring back the good old days, when dangerous crims were chained up and forced to break big rocks into little rocks all day. Stop giving them days out. Now. If some lawyer whinges about their "human rights" then point out that they waived their rights when they broke the law - they will be reinstated when they have finished their stay at Her Majesty's Pleasure.

Leaving the Navy impotent

As anyone with half a brain will know, Great Britain has a proud Naval history. For over a century the Royal Navy was the most powerful force afloat and was instrumental in ending the international slave trade and protecting Britain from her enemies (Napolean, the Kaiser, Hitler, the Soviet Union et al). Unfortunately there is one enemy that the Navy has been unable to protect herself from, and that is the Labour Government.

12 years of cutbacks have left us with just 22 warships in our Navy. The Fleet Air Arm has lost its fixed wing fighter - the Sea Harrier FA.2 - leaving the fleet completely incapable of defending itself from air threats and thus is entirely dependent on help from the American or (shudders) the French Navies on operations. 27 years after the Royal Navy spearheaded the liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentine invaders, the Islands are completely open to invasion and there is no way that we would be able to liberate them again should Argentina decide to do so.

Sure we are getting some very shiny new warships in the form of the Type 45 Destroyer, the Queen Elizabeth class Aircraft Carriers and the Astute Class Attack Submarine, but the question that remains is will there be any Navy left for them to join?

Yesterday it emerged that the MoD was planning to scrap HMS Endurance as it requires a £30 million repair and overhaul - something that the bean counters have deemed to be "too expensive" - and replace it with a similar ship that would be leased from Norway. That's right, the Navy of Nelson, the Navy that fought off the German High Seas Fleet at Jutland and the Navy that retook the Falkland Islands, will have to borrow a ship from another nation. HMS Endurance is the Royal Navy's Antarctic survey and patrol ship. It is vital to the defence of the Falkland Islands, yet it is languishing in Portsmouth for the want of £30 million. Do you know what the worst part is? The fucking bureaucrats in the MoD recently received £47 million in bonuses for "good performance". One of our most important Naval assets is sitting in Portsmouth because £30 million for repairs is "too expensive", yet the same bean-counters in the MoD can find enough money to pay themselves an average of £1000 each in bonuses? That's sick.

It gets worse though. When we do actually send the Navy out to do their job, like hunting pirates, Labour hog-tie them with ridiculous rules of engagement. Do you know who put a stop to piracy around the Caribbean? The Royal Navy. How did they do it? By shelling the fuck out of the pirates' ports, by capturing pirate ships and executing the fuckers. How do we deal with Somali pirates? We sit back and watch as they kidnap British citizens because the idiots in Government are worried that someone might get hurt. That's what the crew of the RFA Wave Knight were forced to do when a yacht belonging to a British couple was hijacked by Somali pirates.

For fuck's sake, Somali pirates aren't exactly the hardest of people. We're talking about a group of people who were overpowered by unarmed prisoners that they were holding under armed guard. These are the same pirates who, despite being armed with AK-47s and RPGs, were fought off from taking a cruise ship by a pensioner throwing deck furniture at them. Seriously, a few well placed shots from Navy snipers would have sorted the situation out. Heck, fly over the top in a helicopter and machine-gun their boat - you'd scare the shit out of them and they'd surrender. It works - we've done it before.

The Government has spent over a decade systematically destroying the Royal Navy. They need to be turfed out of office and whoever replaces them needs to invest a significant amount of money to rebuild the Fleet into a force worthy of its long and distinguished history.

Somali pirates are demanding $7 million for the release of a British couple who were kidnapped from their yacht last week. (I'd suggest that we agree to pay, but ensure that the money is delivered by the SAS. That way we can release the hostages, kill the pirates and keep the $7 million.)

Do you want to know the worst part of all this? A lot of the chemical pollution in China is a result of the West's demand for hybrid cars and solar panels. Al Gore and his goons promise global doom if we don't all buy Priuses and solar panels and our growing demand for these crappy technologies is causing the pollution that you see in the photos above. It's a fucking disgrace, and the environmental movement should be ashamed of themselves for letting it happen.

Interestingly this comes at the end of a post about how Enviro-Loons want to introduce Chinese-style population controls in the West (but only the West). According to research by the Taxpayers' Alliance, the UK Government spends £90 billion per year on Quangos - the unelected bodies that the Government uses to create laws without having to worry about little things like the democratic process.

The Government spends just £36 billion on national defence. Quangos absorb almost 3 times as much cash as the Armed Forces.

An absolute fucking disgrace. One of the first things that should be done by the next Government is to scrap the vast majority of these stupid, unelected bodies and sack all the overpaid bureaucrats that run them.

He'd previously promised that his massive spending and borrowing programme would see the economy returning to growth by Q3 2009, but as we all now know that was utter shite, as we are still in a recession.

It may well return to growth by the beginning of 2010, but it won't be thanks to Labour's policies of massive spending and record levels of borrowing. Our economy is going to be crippled by debt for generations to come and it is all the fault of Gordon Brown, first as Chancellor then as PM.

Official figures show that the UK economy contracted by 0.4% between July and September, making that the sixth consecutive quarter of negative growth. This is officially the worst recession since records began over 50 years ago.

Well, not quite. A female journalist in Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to 60 lashes over a programme that her employer, Lebanese satellite channel LBC, made that featured Saudi men discussing their extra-marital affairs. The men were arrested and sentenced to long jail terms and up to 1000 lashes for adultery. I'm not entirely sure what the crime of the female journalist was, apart from being a producer at the television station.

For fuck's sake. On the one hand you've got a Saudi Arabia that is desperately trying to adapt to a changing world and move away from an economy dependent on oil production, but on the other hand you've still got medieval criminal justice, institutionalised sexism (Saudi is the only country in the world that has a law prohibiting women from driving cars) and public beheadings.

A group of 44 wealthy Germans have signed a petition calling on the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to create a 5% "wealth tax" on anyone with a fortune of more than 500,000 Euros. They say that if everyone with a fortune in excess of 500,000 Euros paid this tax for two years, it would net the Government 100 billion Euros to help fund economic recovery.

Where do I start with this? How about "what the FUCK have you been smoking?"

The very idea that a Government, any Government, would create a new tax and then get rid of it after just 2 years is absurd. Income tax was introduced in the UK as a "temporary measure" during the First World War and it's never gone away. Social Security in America was supposed to be a "temporary measure" to help people during the Great Depression. The Government won't get rid of it, they'll keep it and they'll keep milking it until such time as all the rich people get fed up and decide to fuck off to another country.

What's even more stupid is that Angela Merkel was just re-elected on a platform of lower taxes and smaller Government, so I wouldn't have thought that immediately introducing a new "wealth tax" that punishes people for being successful would be high on her agenda.

The 2018 World Cup bid team plans to send luxury handbags to the wives of all 24 members of FIFA's voting committee.

They are that desperate for the World Cup that they are planning to bribe the FIFA committee's wives in order to try and get it.

BAE Systems is accused of paying bribes to foreign Governments to gain contracts (although this has not been proven). The Serious Fraud Office wants them prosecuted for this and made to pay a fine of up to a billion pounds.

I think if the SFO is going to jump on BAE for allegations of impropriety (which, as I pointed out in my previous post on the subject, may well have been with the full complicity of the Government) then they should be locking up the World Cup bid team and throwing away the key.

Erm, I think not.

Ghandi was the pacifist leader of India's independence movement and is revered the world over for his philosphy of non-violent resistance.

They've finally noticed that despite all Al Gore's bluster and for all the IPCC's bullshit graphs, there has been no global warming - at all - since 1998.

In short - sceptics like me were right. Again.

Needless to say the loons are still clinging to this idea that the world is going to heat up and we're all going to die. The Met Office has predicted a return to warming "soon", although considering their massive, energy guzzling weather-predicting super computer has a 100% record of being wrong (it predicted a long hot summer of 40 degree temperatures in the UK this year) I'll take that with a pinch of salt.

New research suggests that fluctuations in global temperatures might actually be to do with cosmic rays from the Sun and fluctuations in Earth's orbit. You know, like sceptics have been saying for years. The BBC says this will "revolutionise the whole subject". Yes, it will. It will mean that Al Gore, John Kerry, Greenpeace, the IPCC and every other commie greenie lunatic will be completely discredited. It will mean that we don't have to have "carbon trading agreements" and "carbon offset" scams. It will mean that we don't have socialists in Government throwing our economies to the dogs because of duff science.

The Government can fuck off. CO2 does not cause climate change. Actual observed (ie not modelled on some computer) changes in global temperatures do not correlate with CO2 levels. Fact. Even the BBC is starting to accept that the whole man-made Global Warming argument is a crock of shit (see above).

Via Jay from MArooned comes this rather amusing tale of failure on a scale so epic that there isn't an adjective yet invented to describe it.

A group of Somali pirates on a couple of flimsy boats decided it would be a good idea to try and storm the French Navy's flagship in the Indian Ocean. It seems that they were sleeping through the course at pirate school that taught them the difference between an unarmed merchant ship and a fully armed military command ship.

I'd have loved to have seen the faces of the pirates when they realised that they'd fucked up big style.

Some thoughts on Barack Obama and his Peace Prize

When I expressed my outrage at President Hopey McChange being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize I was shot down by people who thought I was being "aggressive" and "politically incorrect", or that I was "overreacting." I think I've got every right to be angry. I'm a firm believer in freedom and the rights of people to determine their own destiny without having one forced upon them. For this reason I am opposed to communist China, fundamentalist Iran, the Burmese junta, fascism, communism, socialism, and terrorism. I'm also opposed to discimination in all its forms and believe that everyone should be judged "by the content of their character" rather than their sex, race, sexuality, marital status or parentage. I hate big Government, high taxes, the lunatic green movement and choking regulations.

In short, I'm opposed to pretty much everything that Barack Obama stands for.

That said, if he truly deserved a Nobel Peace Prize then I'd congratulate him for it. After all, I hate Jimmy Carter, but at least he had the Camp David Accords under his belt to earn his. A lot of people on the BBC were moaning that Henry Kissinger got one in 1973. At least Kissinger had negotiated an end to the Vietnam War and also dramatically improved relations and co-operation between the United States and China. Hell, Yasser Arafat was a terrorist, but even he had done something to earn his (ie the Oslo Treaty) - it's just a shame it never worked out.

So far the sum total of Barack Obama's achievements consist of being elected the first African-American President of the United States, and he was nominated for the prize just two weeks after being sworn in. In short, he's got this award because he is Barack Obama and not for anything he's done. That's the only reason he could have got it, because he hasn't actually done anything to deserve it.

The Nobel Peace Prize was supposed to be awarded to people who had made a major contribution to disarmament, diplomacy and the furtherment of world peace, but in recent years it has become a joke. Al Gore got one for making a movie that is full of lies. The IAEA got one for all it's work stopping nuclear proliferation, then it was announced that North Korea had tested a nuclear weapon, Iran was enriching weapons-grade uranium and the Israelis had bombed a secret Syrian nuclear weapons plant.

It took Nelson Mandela 30 years of fighting to end apartheid to get his, but Obama gets one to "encourage his aspirations?" Give me a break. Obama beat people who are fighting for human rights around the world, people who run the risk of prison or even death on a daily basis in the cause of freedom and self-determination, and for what? A few speeches where he talked about how great he was and how bad America was. Shocking.

President Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples" with special emphasis on his efforts to promote nuclear disarmament.

What. The. Fuck?

Seriously, what the fuck? "Efforts to promote nuclear disarmament"? Let's review his record on nuclear disarmament so far shall we? He made one fucking speech to the UN. ONE. Other than that we've got the Iranians building a secret nuclear facility, the IAEA covering up intelligence that suggests that Iran may be testing nuclear weapons-specific technology and North Korea testing an actual nuclear weapon - all since January 20th when President Hopey McChange took office. Yeah, that's a great record.

"Strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples"? HOW? All Obama has done is make a few speeches where he's blamed all the world's ills on America and apologised unreservedly for them. He's wrongly accused the Government of Honduras of illegally ousting ex-President Zelaya when he was, in fact, removed from office by a legally binding constitutional process. He's become the first President in decades to refuse to meet the Dalai Lama - himself a Nobel Peace Prize winner - so as to not offend the communist Chinese.

In short, Obama has done nothing - NOTHING - to warrant the Nobel Peace Prize.

To win, Obama beat the opposition PM in Zimbabwe and a Chinese dissident - both of whom have spent their lives working for civil rights, freedom, democracy and peace.

Al Gore, the IAEA and now Obama. If it wasn't clear that the panel judging the Nobel Peace Prize were a bunch of drooling moonbats then it should be blatently obvious now.

You remember quantitive easing don't you? It was the plan the Bank of England came up with to magically create new money from nowhere to lend to the Government to spend, with the promise that it would end the recession and bring us back to prosperity. How's it getting on do you think?

The answer is "not very well". According to the National Institute for Social and Economic Research, the UK economy is still not growing, despite the Government pumping billions of pounds into it and borrowing £10 million per hour to pay for it.

So we're lumbered with an enormous deficit and the prospect of massive cuts in public spending to pay for it, and the net result is bugger all?

We are running an enormous and unsustainable deficit in this country and the clowns running the Government are borrowing something stupid like £10 million an hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Government wrings its hands over paying for essential defence projects like Tranche 3 of Typhoon (£2 billion over several years) and the new Aircraft Carriers (£5 billion over almost 10 years) but can magically find over a billion pounds to give to other countries?

Nice to know that we are empoverishing ourselves for a noble cause. Cunts.

The Death of Democracy

It looks like the Irish have voted "Yes" on the EU Constitution - sorry - "Lisbon Treaty." Once it is ratified, it means even more power taken from sovereign states and given to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. We will have a new, unelected President of Europe and a new, unelected High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

I'd make a point about how millions of men died fighting the Second World War to protect Democracy from an unelected dictator, but that wouldn't be accurate because Hitler was elected. The new EU President will not be - he or she will have less of a public mandate than Hitler.

The foreign policy of member states will be dictated by Brussels. The laws of member states will be dictated by Brussels. The taxes of member states will be dictated by Brussels. The people doing this are not elected, they are appointed. The members of the European Commssion spend their days making decisions that affect millions of people, yet are completely unaccountable to the people they are supposed to represent. The European Parliament is elected, but has no real power.

We didn't get any say in this either. Our Government promised a referendum, then signed up anyway. The Tories promised a referendum, but they too have reneged on that promise and are planning to support Tony Blair for President of Europe. At a stroke our leaders have signed away our sovereignty without consulting the people of this country. For shame.

According to Guido, David Cameron has repeated his commitment to a referendum if the Treaty is not ratified bythe Czechs and Poles and brought into force before the General Election. If it is, he is less clear, although he says they will cross that bridge when they come to it. I'm not convinced, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. This comes with a warning though - Dave, if you're fucking with me then I will never, ever vote Tory again!
